Outreach

St. John Chrysostom said, “If you cannot find Christ in the beggar at the church door, you will not find him in the chalice.” One of the primary ways we love God is by serving Christ in all people. We try to follow in the footsteps of Jesus by reaching out to those in great need.

  • Our Community Cupboard provides free, supplemental food for our neighbors in need, honoring their dignity through anonymity and quality choices. Click here for more information.

  • We are constantly collecting items for distribution at St. Luke’s in the Detroit Shoreway neighborhood of Cleveland. Volunteers from St. Barnabas help staff St. Luke’s pantry and, once a month, serve a free dinner to local residents.

  • St. Barnabas partners with other local congregations to provide mission opportunities for adults and teens. Recently, adults and teens have worked in nearby Lorain on home repairs and meals for those in need.

  • Volunteers from St. Barnabas partner with the Church of the Redeemer in Lorain to assist with an urban farming project to help feed families that community.

  • Every November, parishioners from St. Barnabas fills 100 backpacks with Christmas gifts for distribution to families in need on the west side of Cleveland.
