Getting Involved

Get Involved at St. Barnabas!

We are excited that you have decided to explore ways to get more involved in the life of St. Barnabas! This page outlines many opportunities in a wide variety of areas. See something that interests you? We encourage you to take it out for a test drive and see if it’s a good fit for you. No long-term commitment is required to check it out.

Sometimes we all wonder how much difference one person can make. But the truth is that all the work the church does, and all things we accomplish, are because of individuals just like you. So, we encourage you to prayerfully consider where you might feel called to serve. For more information on any of these important ministries in the life of our church, contact Leigh Ann Spratt at Office@StBarnabasBV.org for more information.

An essential aspect of ensuring St. Barnabas can continue to offer a safe space to worship and provide outreach to the community is through a robust stewardship program. The Stewardship Team plans and organizes the annual campaign and as well as promoting stewardship in all its forms throughout the year.

Building Team

We are proud of our beautiful building that provides space for worship, learning, and fellowship and we work hard to be good stewards of this precious asset. There are always building projects and small maintenance needs to maintain and improve our building The Building Team also helps coordinate with outside resources for larger projects.

Grounds Team

St. Barnabas sits on a beautiful 4.5-acre campus so there is always lawn to mow, flower beds to weed and mulch, and other projects to keep our property looking sharp.

Livestream and Technology Team

Livestream and technology team

One important way that St. Barnabas reaches out beyond our four walls is by live- streaming worship services and other special events. This important team helps ensure our message is accessible to those parishioners who cannot attend in person, as well as others who may be searching for a church home. No technical experience is required!

Children and Youth

Enjoy working with children and young people? We can always use help in Sunday School or with our youth group. We also have an Adopt-a-College Student program. Volunteers write to, pray for, and send care packages to our students who are away from home.

Liturgy

There are many opportunities to help with Sunday worship. Both adults and youth serve as acolytes during the service. Ushers and greeters welcome people before service and pass the offering plates. Altar Guild prepares the altar for service and cares for the sacred vessels following the service. And counters tabulate and record weekly offerings after each service.

On occasion the need may arise to support parishioners during a difficult time with visits and a home cooked meal. Lay Eucharistic Visitors also take communion out to homebound parishioners.

Communications Team
